Munster Junior Invitation:
There was a good turn-out in Thurles for this tournament and the winners and runners up will be listed below shortly. Many Thanks to Tony Maher and Gerry Connaughton from the host club for running this competition. The finishing positions of those juniors who played will be used to earn points for Munster rankings and Munster Team selection. Winners and runners-up here with pics.
Irish Junior Open 2012:
The IACT Irish Junior Open 2012 which is part of the European Junior Open Tournament Grand Prix takes place Friday 23rd November to Sunday 25th November 2012 in the Boat Club and Windsor Squash Club in Belfast. The closing date is Wednesday the 31st October 2012 and the entry form is available here. This is a compulsory tournament for Munster players who are hoping to be selected for the National Squad.

Coaching for emerging juniors:
A group of Munster juniors and coaches travelled to Galway on Saturday 27th October,to join with Connacht juniors and coaches for a coaching session given by the National coach Hadrian Stiff. Hadrian delivered a very energetic and informative coaching session which was enjoyed by all and later gave a seminar to the coaches on various aspects of junior coaching. (see pics over)
Elvery Sports Connacht Junior Open:
This competition was held at Galway L.T.C. on September 29 and 30 and the results are available here. Well done to all Munster Juniors who attended and you can see the finishing positions here and browse there for all results. Special mention for Roisín Kirwan who won the Girls U11.
Munster Junior Secretary:

Selection Criteria for Munster Junior Teams:
This season we have new selection criteria for picking Munster Junior Teams (see last season's teams over).
Three junior competitions, (the draw seedings of which must be approved by the Junior Secretary) will be run in Munster and the panel selection will be based on the points earned in the best two results gained from those competitions.
Munster Junior Invitation - Nov 3/4 2012 - Thurles
Munster Junior Open - Dec 8/9 2012 - Highfield
Munster Junior Closed - Jan 26/27 2013 - Dunhill
Ranking points ( check most recent rankings here) will be awarded based on the finishing positions in the best two finishes from the above three competitions and the top six juniors in each age group will then be selected for the Munster panels. You can carry over 30% of your points where you go up in age group during the season but if you wish to be selected on a particular age-group team you must play in that age group in the Munster Junior Closed Championship.
Points will be awarded as in other junior competitions on the Irish Squash calendar:

Notes:
1. Any Munster junior who has a current season top six Irish ranking on 27/01/2013 will be deemed selected for a Munster panel.
2. The Munster Junior Closed is a compulsory competition for all juniors wishing to be selected on Munster panels.
3. Juniors selected for Munster panels must attend Munster squad sessions.
4. Where non-Munster players are competing in the Munster Open - the non-Munster players will be eliminated from the finishing positions list for the purposes of this calculation and the Munster players moved up accordingly before ranking points are allocated.
5. If two players are tied on ranking points the position will be decided in the first instance by their head to head result in the Munster Junior Closed and if there was no head to head result in the MJC by the player finishing highest in the MJC.
6. The final team selection (from the panel) will be made by the team coach.
7. Munster Junior rankings will be displayed on the Munster Squash website throughout the season.
