Sean Conroy and Derek Ryan played out an entertaining final culminating 3 days of great squash at the 2016 Sunday’s Well Squash Open in memory of Neil O’Sullivan.
36 players in all competed from Thursday to Saturday in what was a competitive and fun tournament fitting of Neil’s memory.
The Premier section final saw world #157 Sean Conroy (Leinster CC) defeat seasoned campaigner and former world #7 Derek Ryan (Fitzwilliam LTC) of 3-0 in 24 minutes, a time and score line that doesn’t do justice to a much tighter match thoroughly enjoyed by the packed gallery.
Quick interchanges at the front of the court and some fantastic retrieving featured throughout the match with the younger Conroy just having the edge in each of the 3 games.

The Premier section 3-4 play-off between David Noone (Galway LTC) and Johnny Hurley (Sundays Well B&TC) saw a lot more length exchanges but with equally spectacular retrieving.
Hurley took the first in what was a tightly fought match with Noone coming through the winner 3-1 in 29 minutes.
