Congratulations to Celtic Squash Club on winning the Men’s Division 1 League this season (2015/16).
Celtic were Runners-Up last season and managed to go one better this season to claim the league title.
They won 6 out of 6 fixtures and were deserving champions.
There has been great work going into their club over the past year; coaching juniors, renovating the courts and viewing area, and generating increased membership.
This success of their Division 1 team is a great way to cap off the club’s efforts and long may it continue.

Sunday’s Well were the defending champions from last season, and came in Runners-up on this occasion.
Again there has been a lot of commendable work going on in that club over the past few seasons; court refurbishments, hosting and holding competitions at the club, and attracting new members as a reward for that good work.
There’s no doubt that Sunday’s Well will be back in the hunt next season to compete for the title once again.

Highfield came in 3rd and Silver Springs came in 4th.

My thanks to Brendan Lawton for helping organise the league this season, and also to Ken O’Keeffe as acting League Secretary this season. A fair bit of work goes on behind the scenes to make these leagues run well and both were a credit to their clubs in ensuring that everything passed off smoothly. Thanks again!

Lastly, well done to all teams that participated.
The standard of matches was very good again this season, and the league nights were enjoyable for players and spectators alike.
I hope that many of the players that took part will maintain that high standard and carry it through to enter into the Munster Closed Championships in the New Year.
