On October 22nd in Limerick Lawn Squash Club will host the Munster Squash second Coaches/Volunteers conference, its starts at 10 am lunch will be provided and it will end at 4 pm. The main idea behind this series of Coaching Conferences is to connect our community of coaches throughout Munster with the aim of embedding a culture of coaching within our clubs. Also to understand best practices to grow our game by offering a fun and engaging experience, especially to those new to squash. Objective:

The main idea behind this series of Coaching Conferences is to connect our community of coaches throughout Munster with the aim of embedding a culture of coaching within our clubs. Also to understand best practices to grow our game by offering a fun and engaging experience, especially to those new to squash our juniors starters and improvers.

We are very lucky in Munster to have a strong ratio of coaches to clubs and this initiative will help create a vibrant and connected coaching community to ensure coaching is easily accessible to every club.

Format: Three sessions with a mix of discussion and practical
Cost: Free / Snacks and light lunch provided

Sessions

Session 1: Introduction & Case Studies (10:00am -12 pm)

Introductions
Celtic: Case study Junior academy
Highfield: Case study of recent school programmes
Thurles: Case study junior club revival and Garda Vetting procedures

Session 2: Discussion Questions (1 hour 12.15pm -1.15 pm)


(i) Question: How can we grow the number of juniors playing squash
(ii) Question: How can we make squash more engaging for families &
communities
(iii) Question: How best to deliver targeted local coaching programmes (TLC)
(iv) Question: How can we engrain a culture of long-term coaching in our clubs

Lunch: (1.15pm-2pm)

Session 3: Court Session Demonstrations (2pm -3:30pm)


Beginner kids – emphasis on fun and engagement
Improving Juniors – emphasis on fun plus improvement techniques
Advancing player – more technical & specific training/drills
